WHAMBAA Community Events
WHAMBAA strives to cultivate a strong sense of community and camaraderie between
club members and within the Wharton community through events and cultural
activities.
WHAMBAA Social Events
Koko Loco
The first official Wharton party of the year, hosted by WHAMBAA, celebrates the
passing of the annual Pre-Term Math Test.
Holiday and Graduation Dinners
The club hosts two dinner celebrations, one for the Holidays at the end of the
1st semester and one at the end of the 2nd semester to wish the graduating class
well as they venture into the real world!
Community Building Club Events
Wild-on-Salsa Lessons
Two Professional salsa instructors lead separate classes for beginners and
advanced salseros (dancers). These lessons are “wildly” popular among club
members and Wharton students alike!
Happy Hours and lunches
The club plans periodic informal and formal gatherings for drinks, dinner or
drinks and dinner specifically to build community among the members.
1st/2nd year Mentoring Program
Each 2nd Year WHAMBAA Club member is paired with a 1st year student to mentor
and guide them through their transition into, and life at Wharton.
Wharton and Greater Community Events
WHAMBAA looks for opportunities to sponsor events with other student clubs and
maintain strong relations with other Hispanic organizations in the greater Penn
and Philadelphia communities.
Wharton Community Events Partnerships with other clubs to sponsor
events such as:
- Pub Nights (WHAMBAA Pub)
- WGA Parties (this year’s party was co-sponsored with Europa!)
Organize club participation in following community-wide efforts:
- International Food Festival
- International Cultural Show
- Panels for Wharton Latin American and Whitney M. Young conferences
Greater Community Relations
WHAMBAA maintains relationships and organizes events with:
- LALSA (Penn Law Student Association)
- GAPSA (Graduate Penn Student Association)
- Latino Coalition
- Local Philadelphia
